Recently, a 42-year-old man located near Fort Worth, Texas was sentenced to 80 years in prison by the U.S. District Court. According to reports, Tyrone Taylor has been found guilty of sexual exploitation of a child and possession of a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

An investigation was launched by the FBI after they received a tip from a local business. According to reports, a local computer repair shop contacted authorities after they found what they believed to be child pornography on Tyrone Taylor’s personal computer. Investigators and authorities met with a representative of the shop, and after reviewing the evidence, they made the decision to seize the hard drive and conduct further investigations into the matter.

After being confronted by authorities, Taylor admitted to being in possession of pornographic images involving children. He told law enforcement he was the owner of the hard drive and revealed that some of the children in the videos and images were as young as 9 years old.

This investigation was led by the FBI’s Dallas Field Office and was part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative with the goal of combating the child sexual exploitation epidemic that is currently taking place in our country. This is an initiative that aims to properly use local, state, and federal resources in order to promptly do whatever it takes to stop sexual predators from preying on children.

Child Pornography Penalties

In the state of Texas, possession of child pornography takes place when an individual knowingly or intentionally possesses any sort of material that depicts a child engaging in sexual conduct. Texas Penal Code § 21.15 states that individuals can also be charged with possession of child pornography if they are found photographing or recording a child in a private dressing room or bathroom.
